Faster way to get the bard
This is an easy trick and you can do anywhere and any time. Go into battle and lose on purpose. You should return to Brittannia Castle. Now walk to the town nearby. Walk to the bottom right corner of the map and you should see the Bard by a campfire. Ask him to join.
